Skilled Independent (Subclass189) Visa

The Skilled Independent visa is a point-tested permanent visa and does not require a sponsorship by a State/Territory Government or relative in Australia. Your nominated occupation must be on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List. 

You must be invited to apply for this visa. Once you are invited, you must apply within 60 days; otherwise, your invitation will lapse. You may be in or outside Australia at the time of the application and decision of this visa. You can include you partner or dependent children in this visa application. Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) Visa

The Skilled Nominated Subclass 190 visa is a point-tested permanent visa which requires nomination by a State or Territory Government.

You must be invited to apply for this visa. Once you are invited, you must apply within 60 days; otherwise, your invitation will lapse. You may be in or outside Australia at the time of the application and decision of this visa. You can include you partner or dependent children in this visa application.

Each state and territory may have its specific requirements and a list of occupations. Your nominated occupation may be on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List or the Short-term Skilled Occupation List provided it is on the state or territory occupations list. Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa

The Skilled Work Regional visa is a point-tested provisional visa which requires holders to live, work, and study in a regional area of Australia.

You must be invited to apply for this visa. Once you are invited, you must apply within 60 days; otherwise, your invitation will lapse. You may be in or outside Australia at the time of the application and decision of this visa. You can include you partner or dependent children in this visa application.

You may be nominated by a State/ Territory or sponsored by an eligible relative for this visa. Each state and territory may have its specific requirements and a list of occupations. Your nominated occupation may be on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List or the Short-term Skilled Occupation List provided it is on the state or territory occupations list. If you are sponsored by an eligible relative, your nominated occupation may be on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List.

This visa allows the visa holder to reman in Australia for up to 5 years.

Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa (subclass 191)

The subclass 191 visa is the permanent residency pathway for the Skilled Employer Sponsor Regional (subclass 494) and the Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visas.

If you hold a Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491) visa, you must:

  •  have lived, worked or studied in the designated regional area for at least three years, whilst holding a 491 visa
  • show earnings of at least $53,900 for three years.
  • meet health and character requirements

If you hold a Skilled Employer Sponsor Regional (subclass 494) visa, you must:

  • have lived and worked in the designated regional area for at least three years, whilst holding a 494 visa
  • show earnings of at least $53,900 for three income years. 
  • meet health and character requirements
