TRAFFIC OFFENCES

Queensland has a range of traffic offences, and you may incidentally invite serious criminal charges even in events you may incorrectly conclude as an unfortunate traffic accident.

Some common traffic offences include unlicensed driving, drink driving, drug driving, hooning, exceeding the speed limit, being an unaccompanied learner driver, using a mobile phone whilst driving, disobeying a red light, driving without due care and dangerous driving.

If found guilty of any of these offences you may face significant fines, loss of demerit points or even jail time.  Further, If convicted of a traffic offence, a mandatory minimum licence disqualification period may be imposed, potentially leading to an inability to provide care for family or loved ones and/or job loss depending on your occupation.

If you have been charged with an offence and must appear in court, it is advisable to seek legal representation as soon as possible.
