The Business Innovation stream allows people to own and manage an existing or new business.
You must:
- be under 55 years of age; however, a state or territory may waive this requirement if your business will be of exceptional economic benefit to the relevant region
- Have total annual turnover of AUD 750,000 or over in at least two of the four fiscal years immediately before you are invited to apply
- Have score of at least 65 on the points test
- Have a genuine intent to own and maintain a management role in a business in Australia
- Have one or two businesses, you must own at least:
- 51 per cent of a business with a turnover of less than AUD400,000 per year
- 30 per cent of the total value of the business with turnover of AUD400,000 or more per year, or
- 10 per cent of a publicly-listed company
Spent majority of your time in managing the business rather than spent time on providing professional, technical or trade services
You and/or your partner own total personal and business assets of at least AUD 1.25 million and able to transfer these funds within two years when the visa is granted.

- Havedirectly managed a qualifying business for at least 1 of the last 5 fiscal years
- qualifying business in which you and/or your partner have 10 per cent ownership or eligible investment of AUD 2.5 million you and/or your partner
- Have score of at least 65 on the points test
- Have a high level of business management skills for at least three years of managing one or more qualifying business or eligible investment.
You and/or your partner own total personal and business assets of at least AUD 2.5 million and able to transfer these funds within two years when the visa is granted.
The Significant Investor stream is a Business Innovation and Investment Visa program that allows high net worth individuals to invest in Australian.
To be eligible for this visa, you must have a minimum of AUD 5 million to invest in complying investments in Australia and have a genuine intent to hold the investment for the life of provisional visa.
The complying investments may include Australian securities, eligible managed funds, direct investment into Australian proprietary companies, and other investments approved by the Australian government.
Once granted, the visa allows the holder and their family members to live and work in Australia indefinitely. It also provides a pathway to Australian citizenship.

The Subclass 888 Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa is a permanent residency visa that allows business owners, investors, and entrepreneurs to live and work in Australia permanently. This visa is available to those who already hold a provisional Business Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 188) and have met the requirements of the stream in which they applied.
