PLT Student Placement

hiring

Who are Wickham Lawyers?

We are a busy general practice law firm located in Spring Hill and recently have opened our second office in Melbourne as we have had substantial growth in the last twelve months.  Our workplace culture is relaxed and unique and for the right person you will be a key part of the team, where your ideas and input will be valued.

Our close-knit team is very hard working and is focused on delivering the best outcome for our clients.  We believe that exceptional customer service is the most important thing that we can offer our clients.  We go above and beyond for our clients.

You must be able to assist a variety of clients who face stigma or who are from migrant or vulnerable backgrounds in an inclusive, empathetic and supportive way.  For this position you must have proven interpersonal skills which will include the ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.

What we are seeking

We have applications open on a rolling basis throughout 2019 for a volunteer Practical Legal Training (PLT) student who is seeking a PLT placement. This is an unpaid position. We know how hard it is to find a firm that will provide you a PLT placement. Starting dates will vary throughout the year.

We are seeking those who are looking to have a hands-on and well-rounded experience in many areas of law.

If you are seeking a role where you will be supported and mentored, you will receive support in developing their legal skills and practice in conjunction with PLT coursework.  We are flexible with the duration and commencement date and if you need time to complete your PLT coursework.

We are seeking someone who can work collaboratively in a close-knit team and independently, strong attention to detail, a proactive attitude, is motivated to continually learn and development skills, and has time management skills.

You will have strong verbal and written communication skills. Although not necessary for this position, please advise us as to any other languages you speak and your fluency in them.

How to apply

Please address your application (including your academic transcript, cover letter and a brief resume) to Vikas Jain. Video applications are also encouraged but are not necessary.  Introduce yourself and why you feel that you will be a good fit for our team and what areas of law interest you.
